The Fjadrargljufur Canyon

ABOUT:
The Fjadrargljufur Canyon is one of the most beautiful and lovely canyons of Iceland. Fjadrargljufur is very easily accessible, only a few kilometres detour from road number 1st in the South, to the west of the hamlet Kirkjubaejarklaustur. River Fjadra runs over the brink of the canyon from the moorlands of the Sida County. It is possible to approach the canyon from the so-called Laki-road and walk down to its mouth or enter the canyon from below, but that requires fording the river several times. Both approaches are to be recommended to those who want to enjoy its beauty and natural sculptures. The Fjadrargljufur canyon has been declared inviolate.
